12/10/2023 - The Hope Makers Organization for Woman (HMOW) hosted an exceptional event to celebrate World Mental Health Day, in collaboration with Premiere Urgence Internationale (PUI) and with the generous support of the French Consul in Mosul, Mr. Jean-Christophe, as well as community leaders, local and international organizations, and local community members. The event underscored the critical importance of mental health and its impact on the daily lives of individuals, particularly in post-conflict regions.

The celebration featured a series of entertainment and awareness activities that addressed key topics related to mental health, effective communication strategies, and promoting mental well-being within the community. These activities aimed to reduce stigma surrounding mental health issues while empowering individuals to seek support and engage in self-care practices.

In his speech, French Consul Mr. Jean-Christophe emphasized the importance of psychological support for individuals and families, particularly in conflict-affected areas. He commended the collaborative efforts of HMOW and PUI in providing mental health support and raising awareness on this vital issue. He also praised the work being done to make mental health services more accessible to vulnerable populations in the region.

The event also highlighted the ongoing initiatives and programs led by the HMOW to support mental health, including community outreach efforts and psycho-social services for women and families. Participants received informative materials about mental health and the services available to them, reinforcing the organization's commitment to improving mental well-being and providing essential support for those in need.

This celebration of World Mental Health Day is part of HMOW’ broader mission to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote mental health care for individuals who have experienced trauma and hardship. Through continued collaboration with international partners like PUI and the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, HMOW is working to ensure that mental health becomes a priority within community health efforts.
